3D Secure (3DS) is an authentication method that adds an extra layer of protection for online card transactions.
When completing an online purchase, the cardholder is required to verify their identity using one of the following methods:
- Entering a unique password
- A one-time SMS code sent to the registered mobile phone
- A temporary PIN
- Approving the transaction through a notification in the bank’s mobile app
This process ensures that the transaction is being made by the legitimate cardholder, reducing the risk of fraud in online payments.
