If you are experiencing issues and are prompted to restart Google Services, follow the steps below.
Steps may vary slightly depending on your device model and Android version.
Step 1: Make sure Google Services are up to date
- Open Settings on your Android device.
- Go to Apps or Apps & notifications and tap See all apps.
- Scroll down and select Google Play services.
- Tap App details.
- Select Update or Install, if available.
If you do not see an update option, proceed to Step 2.
Step 2: Clear cache and data of Google Services
Clearing cache and data may remove some stored information on your device, including transit cards, COVID cards, or virtual payment cards stored in Google Pay.
- Open Settings.
- Go to Apps → See all apps.
- Find Google Play services.
- Tap Storage.
- Select Clear cache.
Final step (if the issue persists)
If there is no improvement:
- Uninstall the app
- Open the Google Play Store
- Download and install the app again
